Getting Users

Once a user wants to use a Voice Assistant, the process is pretty easy. For a new Alexa Skill, for instance, the user simply finds it on the Skill Store and clicks the “Enable” button. The challenge is that it’s an opt-in solution, so you have to do marketing to get users aware of the new option and convince them it’s worth enabling.

Marketing Checklist

Here’s what you need to know about marketing your Voice Assistant.

✔️  Convince

Make sure the description clearly articulates how the Voice Assistant will improve your customer’s life, including utterances that pique customers’ interest.

✔️  The Medium is the Message

Don’t just say, SHOW! Video is particularly powerful to show how your Voice Assistant is a compelling part of your customer’s home life.

✔️  Quality

You only have one chance for a first impression. The best guarantee for success? Make your Voice Assistant easy to use and have engaging features beyond just bill projection and one-size-fits-all energy saving tips.

✔️  Awareness

Don’t rely on users discovering your Voice Assistant themselves. Spread the word. Add the information to bill inserts, MyAccount portal pages, and your website and social media.

✔️  Naming

Give the Voice Assistant a name that is easy to remember and is self-explanatory. This is not the time to be clever.
